  • To gain experience working with patients in a private mental health setting.
  • To assess and treat patients with Mood Disorders (including Bi-polar Affective Disorders and Post-Natal Depression), Anxiety Disorders (including civilian and service-related PTSD), Eating Disorders, Substance Use Disorders.
  • Provide group therapy sessions using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Psycho-education.

  • The perinatal setting encourages the integration of complex social, psychological and biological psychiatric skills.
  • The post also allows for considerable focus on psychotherapy.
  • Structured parenting interventions are provided using the Circle of Security Model and trainees will be encouraged to gain training in this model and assist with delivery of the training.
  • Opportunity to work within an outreach service integrating with other disciplines and services including Aboriginal welfare workers, child behavioural specialists, domestic violence counsellors and other community workers.
